Frequently Asked Questions
What type of instruction do you offer?
Most of our lessons are pitching, hitting, slapping, and catching, but we also conduct lessons in defensive skills and strength, conditioning, and agility.

Who teaches your lessons?
Michael Connell is the owner and operator of Jack City and teaches most of the lessons at the facility. Michael has more than 25 years of coaching and training experience and has trained literally hundreds of athletes who have gone on to play collegiate and professional ball. He is currently the AFA State Director and directs the Team Worth Fastpitch organization, including coaching both the Gold and 98 teams.

Do you provide individual or group lessons?
We prefer one-on-one individual sessions and offer two player lesson sessions when appropriate. Our desire is to customize the training for each individual player to obtain maximum benefit for our students. Training groups of 4-6 or more in weekly pitching sessions limits the ability to design personalized instruction, and greatly reduces the benefit available to each student. Group instruction is best suited for camps and clinics. Weekly sessions bring the best results when done on an individual basis.

What happens if I have to miss a scheduled appointment?
We understand that emergencies arise from time to time and always try to be as flexible as possible. We will work with you to reschedule your appointment in the case of an emergency if one is available. Please keep in mind that cancellations prevent us from keeping our fees as low as possible and that there are other students who are waiting for open instruction slots. Repetitive cancellations may result in charges for missed sessions, increased fees, or loss of your regular time slot.

Do I need to bring a catcher for my pitching lessons?
We strongly recommend that you bring a parent, sibling, friend, or teammate to catch you at all pitching sessions. We can catch you during your lesson if you do not have a catcher, however, it is difficult for an instructor to watch your mechanics as closely as we want while catching.
