Austin Peay sophomore Christiana Gable opened the 2015 campaign strong last weekend turning in a 3 for 3 with a double and four RBI in addition to a pair of walks in the Governors opening win over Mississippi Valley.

In the second game on the day, Gable went 1 for 2 with a walk while hitting a 3 run home run against St. Louis. On Saturday and Sunday, Christiana ripped another home run against Mississippi Valley and picked up a pair of RBI versus Middle Tennessee.

The Jack City Alum is hitting .316 with 10 RBI in 19 official At Bats on the season from the 3rd spot in the order

Purdue Freshman Maya Hughes (Jack City Spring Program, Jack City - Jacobs) was named the Big 10 Freshman of the Week after leading the Boilermakers to a 5-0 record at the FIU Invitational last weekend.

The speedy outfielder led Purdue with a .667 average with a .706 on base percentage while stealing six bases over the weekend. Maya went 10 for 15 with four multi-hit games, including 3 for 4 in the final game on Sunday. She scored five runs and had 4 RBI, one of which was the game winner against Florida International on Friday. She also tied a school record by stealing three bases against Memphis on Saturday.

Sarah Beth Roberts Leading Chattanooga Early

UT Chattanooga senior Sarah Beth Roberts opened the 2015 season by going 8 for 14 (.571 average, ,625 on base percentage) with at least one hit in all 5 games at the Plainsman Classic in Auburn, AL, leading UTC to a 4-1 record for the weekend.

Roberts went 3 for 3 on Saturday against UAB with 3 RBI and a home run. She also ripped another home run against Evansville and had a double in the win over George Washington.

The talented third baseman who spent 9 years in the Worth/Jack City Program has been named to the All Southern Conference Team for each of her first three seasons at UTC, and is well on track to repeat in 2015.

UT Martin senior Casey Vincent started the 2015 season with a bang...literally. A four year starting pitcher for the Skyhawks, Vincent contributed from both the circle and at the plate going 3 for 3 with a home run and 4 RBI while picking up a complete game win over the University of Nebraska - Omaha in Starkville, MS.

On the weekend, Casey went 4 for 8 with 5 RBI, including a double and a home run. She also threw 6 solid innings against Nicholls State on day two of the Mississippi State Invitational.

Maya Hughes Records Hit in First Collegiate At Bat

Purdue freshman Maya Hughes started her first game as a collegiate player in Centerfield and hitting in the lead off position.

Whatever nervousness she might have had in the first inning of the season opener as the first Boilermaker to step to the plate in 2015, Maya calmly rapped out a hit and advanced to second on a throwing error committed by the San Diego State defense who had to rush to catch the speedy slapper. She also picked up another hit in the second game on Friday against Cal State Fullerton and finished her first collegiate day with a .333 average.

Whjat a super start for a tremendously talented player. We expect to see a lot from Maya over the next four years.

Briar Mays has signed an athletic scholarship to play softball at Roane State for the next two years. The speedy outfielder has spent the past three seasons with the Spring Collegiate Prospect Program and is a key member of the Jack City 18U travel team.

Mays has played most of her travel career in the Team Worth/Jack City program, beginning with her 10 year old season as part of the Team Worth 98 Red squad, coached by Curtis Mays. She is entering her 7th season with the team which became Jack City several summers ago.

Roane State coaches are excited about bringing Briar on board. As a power slapper with exceptional speed, Briar has become an offensive force at the plate and creates havoc on the base paths. She has become a strong defensive presence in center field over the past few seasons and has stepped into the battery rotation the past two years as a catcher.

Abi Stephens has signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball for the Tennessee State Tigers which is a member of the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley Conference. Stephens has played for two seasons with the Jack City Spring College Prospect Program as an outfielder and second baseman. She has also played with the Jack City - Jacobs travel team for the past five years.

With a desire to study nursing, the strong academic nursing program at Tennessee State was a strong draw for Abi. She will make an outstanding addition to the Tiger softball squad under new head coach Tom Opdenbrouw.

When asked about Abi by the TSU media department, Opdenbrouw stated "Abi is a hardworking, gritty, competitor. She has a combination of speed, power, and tenacity, fitting what we were looking for to play in our outfield. Offensively, her skill set makes her the type of athlete who can make things happen at the plate and on the base paths. Her Jack City coaches agree as they have all seen these things in her game for years.

A number of our talented alums had a great start to the 2014 college season last weekend as their respective teams hit the fiield for the first action of the season.

Caralisa Connell - University of Louisville
Connell recorded two wins from the circle, including a one hit, shut out in a 7-0 win over St. Johns. The senior right hander struck out 16 in 15 innings and compiled a 0.93 ERA over three days in Boca Raton, FL earning American Athletic Conference Honor Roll honors for the week. The two wins were her 64th and 65th of her career at Louisville, which moved her into 3rd place in career wins for the Cardinals. Connell has been named to the All Big East Team in each of her three years in Louisville.

Austyn Whaley - MIddle Tennessee State University
Austyn earned a starting posibiton at second base for her first game as a collegiate freshman, and it didn't take her long to have an impact for the Blue Raiders. Whaley pounded out a pair of hits, going 2 for 4 in the opening game against Kennesaw State, followed by a two run home run against Memphis in the second.

NIna Dever - Middle Tennessee State University
The senior outfielder started 2014 season as hot as she finished in 2013. In the opening inning of MTSU's first game, Dever ripped a three run home run to start a six run rally. Dever was named to the All Sun Belt team last season.

Kendall Hooper - Tennessee Tech
In spite of Tech's slow start at the Auburn tournament last weekend, Hooper was a bright spot for the Golden Eagles. Kendall recorded at least one hit from the lead off spot in each of their first three games, including a 2 for 3 outing against nationally ranked Notre Dame.Hooper was joined in the lineup by senior Kayla Floyd/

Sarah Beth Roberts - Chattanooga
Roberts hit .300 on the weekend in a UTC lineup that saw very little offensive punch in their opening tournament. The junior third baseman has been named to the All Southern Conference Team in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.

Haley Fagan- Trevecca Nazarene
In her first season with Trevecca after spending time at the University of Tennessee and Chattanooga State, Haley was awarded the opening game start against Delta State. Fagan scattered 7 hits and struck out 6 to pick up the complete game 5-4 win. On the weekend she struck out 13 in 13 innings of work. Fagan was joined in the starting lineup by freshman second baseman Kaitlyn Crumpler and Mackenzie Leding.

Jack City pitcher Kristen Abell has signed a scholarship to play collegiate softball at Cumberland University next fall following graduation. She will join Cumberland right after the Bulldogs wrap up their final season in the NAIA's Mid-South Conference and begin the transition to NCAA Division II as a member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.

Abell had a stellar spring in 2013, leading the Jack City Spring Exposure Program in wins and home runs. In a 12 game stretch, Kristen pounded out seven home runs, inlcuding a grand slam. She finished the season with a .436 average and an ERA of 1.03.

Kristen is also a part of the Jack City travel program and plays for Coach Chris Jacobs in the summer and fall, compiling a win-loss record of 46-5 with three saves and an ERA of under 1.80.

Kristen's cousin, Jordan Abell, was a four year standout with Team Worth Gold and is currently a junior middle infielder at Lipscomb University.

Kristen will spend the spring season getting ready to make an immediate impact at Cumberland. The Bulldogs graduate all three pitchers this year and will be counting on Abell to fill some big shoes.

Jack City standout Alexis Hill will be taking her skills to Austin Peay State University in the fall after signing a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period. The power hitting catcher/corner will be expected to provide an immediate impact in the Governor's line up.

Hill is returning for her third season with the Jack City Spring Exposure Program, sporting at .542 average with 7 home runs wihle compiling a .998 fielding percentage. APSU head coach Stephanie Paris indicated that she was impressed with Hill's power and stated "We need her bat in the lineup" and would "find a place for her" behind the plate or at first or third to make sure they could utilize her offensive skills.

During the summer and fall travel ball seasons, Alexis has been a consistent performer for Coach Chirs Jacobs with Jack City (Jacobs) for the past four years.

Emily Bombard (Mt. Juliet High School) has signed a scholarshiip to play softball for Blue Mountain College. After being recruited by more than a dozen colleges, Bombard decided to head to Mississippi to join Coach Kevin Barefield's Lady Topper squad.

In only their thrid season in existence, Coach Barefield led the Blue Mountain squad to a 25 win season and a deep run into the TranSouth Conference Championship Tournament, and is expecting the Lady Toppers to better that performance this year.

Coach Barefield was excited about bringing a player the caliber of Bombard into his program and refers to Emily as his "crowning jewel" of the 2014 signing class. He feels that she is the type of player to "build a strong program around because she is a talented difference-maker."

Emily has spent the past three years with Team Worth 94 and Jack City (Jacobs). Although she is primarlly a catcher and shortstop, she has played every position except for pitcher during her time in the program.

Savannah Oliver (Mt. Juliet High School) is the second Jack City player in the 2014 class to sign with Austin Peay State University during the early signing period . Oliver will join Alexis Hill in the fall as a freshman. At APSU, she will also join fellow Jack City student and Team Worth (Gable) player Christiana Gable who is currently in her freshman season with the Governors.

Oliver is an outfielder who spent the summer and fall with Jack City (Blankenship) where she hit .443 and provided consistent power from the middle of the order. Before playing with Jack City, she spent a season with Team Worth 95 playing for Charlie and Melissa Gravat.

A few short weeks ago, Hannah Champion was ready to head to Chattanooga in the fall to begin college at UTC, but a local offer this week has caused her to change directions and stay home in the middle Tennessee area. The talented outfielder has signed to play collegiate softball for Vol State, joining several of her long term teammates from the Jack City Spring Program and her summer travel team, Team Worth 93.

Hannah batted .361 and .402 in her two years with the Spring Program while holding down starting positions in the outfield. She has played for Coach Rickey Hunley for several years during travel ball, including the past four summers with Team Worth 93. Hannah will join fellow Blackman High School graduates and Jack City players Michelle Hunley and Chelsea Benda on the Vol State squad, and the three will be roommates.

Tasia Lewis has decided to continue her softball career at Vol State. Although the right handed pitcher had originally decided to attend Fisk University on a softball scholarship, Vol State was able to make her an offer she couldn't refuse.

Tasia is an all District pitcher from East Literature High School, and plays travel ball with the Ridge Runners. She pitched and played outfield and first base for the Jack City Spring Program squads.

Michelle Hunley has selected Volunteer State as her choice to continue playing softball at the collegiate level. The senior catcher had a stellar spring season both defensively and at the plate and caught the eye of the Vol State coaches.

Michelle has led Jack City defensively the past two spring seasons, leading all catchers in fielding percentage, and compiled a career .374 batting average over two seasons in the Spring Program. She has also been one of the key leaders on both offensive and defense for her summer/fall travel team, Team Worth 93, for the past five seasons.

Jack City standout Alexis Hill has made a verbal commitment to accept a softball scholarship to play at the collegiate level with Austin Peay State University. Alexis saw limited action last spring while rehabbing a severe ankle injury, but managed to amass a .651 batting average with four home runs.

The junior catcher is outstanding defensively behind the plate and at the corners, and she possesses a strong arm. While maintaining a high batting average, she has tremendous power at the plate. Alexis has been a member of Mizuno 96 for several years, playing for Chris Jacobs.

Kzylee Jacobs is taking her skills to Vol State next fall as she signed a scholarship on Friday. KJ jwill play with fellow Jack City Spring Program and Team Worth 94 teammates Sarah Jane Barton and Chelsea Benda who also signed with Vol State this week.

Jacobs led the Jack City Program in defensive chances from her shortstop position last spring and responded well with a .957 fielding percentage while compiling a .532 batting average. She hit an equally impressive .498 during the fall showcase season.

Jack City star third baseman signed a scholarship to play collegiate softball with Vol State next fall.

Barton hit .434 last spring with Jack City with a stellar .993 fielding percentage from the hot corner. She was also among the program leaders in RBI, and was outstanding in clutch situations, leading the squad in game winning RBI during the spring. Sarah Jane plays travel ball with Team Worth 94 where she hit .521 during the fall showcase season.

Chelsea Benda signed a scholarship on Friday to continue her softball career with Vol State.

The power hitting right hander is one of the more versatile players in the Jack City Spring Program, logging time at third, first, catcher, second, and in the outfield in addition to time in the circle. Benda hit .394 on the season with a .879 slugging percentage while compiling a .969 fielding percentage. Chelsea is entering her 9th year of competition in the Team Worth organization, spending time with the 93, 94, and 95 squads.

Jack City standout Kaitlin Crumpler has signed a scholarship to continue her softball career with Trevecca Nazarene University. Coach Ben Tyree will depend upon her big bat as an offensive boost in his lineup.

Kaitlin put up impressive statistics last spring for Jack City. She batted .545 with 6 home runs and compiled g a .871 slugging percentage. Crump was also a defensive leader with a .968 fielding percentage while logging time at third, second, catcher, and in the outfield.

Jack City student Christiana Gable signed a scholarship today to play collegiate softball with Austin Peay State University. The Ezell-Harding senior has been making noise with her bat for many years, leading Team Worth Gable the past three years. As Ezell's ace pitcher, Gable led her squad deep into the playoffs last year while leading the team in home runs and average. Although she also pitches in travel ball, she is primarily a catcher and outfielder and is expected to fill those roles for Austin Peay.

Jack City ace pitcher Savannah Brownlee has signed a National Letter of Intent to receive a softball scholarship to play for Tennessee Temple University beginning in the fall of 2013. She compiled a 14-1 record for Jack City last spring with 4 saves and an outstanding 0.93 ERA. When she wasn't in the circle, Brownlee hit .459 with 3 home runs and had a .984 fielding percentage in the outfield and at third base.

Savannah is entering her 8th year in the Team Worth program, playing with both Team Worth 95 and Team Worth 94. This spring, she will be counted upon as a leader in the Jack City program before moving on to lead the Crusaders as a collegiate player.

Austyn Whaley has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her softball career at Middle Tennessee State University. The talented third baseman earned the District Offensive MVP last spring while leading her Marshall County squad.Blue Raider coach Jeff Breeden is excited about adding her speed, arm, big bat, and aggressive play to their roster.

Austyn played with Team Worth 95 for seven years and will be a great addition to the Blue Raider squad

Jack City Softball gave three college scholarships to three deserving young women last night at the Spring Program Senior Night ceremonies. Seniors Shelby Heath, Jacquelyn Roland, and Ashley Williams were selected to receive these scholarships for 2012.

The Jack City scholarship fund was created to recognize outstanding players and to help offset the costs associated with obtaining a college degree. Each of these young women have had outstanding softball careers and will continue to play softball at the collegiate level following the conclusion of the Jack City Spring season.

Ashley Williams graduated from Oakland High School and has signed with Motlow State. The speedy outfielder hit .545 this spring for Jack City and was not thrown out in a single steal attempt. She also compiled a .997 fiiellding percentage. She has been a Jack City student for four years and plays select ball for Team Worth 94.
Jacquelyn Roland is a graduate of Blackman High School and has signed to play softball for Vol State. Jaq had an outstanding spring season for Jack City, hitting .474 and was among the program leaders in steals and doubles while compiling a .983 fielding percentage at shortstop. She has spent most of her travel career playing for Team Worth 93 and also spent a season with Team Worth Gable.

Shelby Heath is also a graduate of Blackman High School, and will join Roland at Vol State. The hard throwing right hander was impressive during the spring, compiling a 16-1 record with a stellar 0.48 ERA. Shelby also threw a pair of no hiters and a perfect game. Offensively, she added a pair of home runs and hit .352 on the season. She has played for Team Worth Gable for the past two summers.

Jacquelyn Roland has signed a full scholarship with Vol State and will be taking her skills in the middle infield to a squad that is one year removed from the NJCAA World Series. Jacquelyn is expected to start at short for Vol State as a freshman.

Jaq had an outstanding spring season for Jack City, hitting .474 and was among the program leaders in steals and doubles while compiling a .983 fielding percentage at shortstop.

Ashley Williams has accepted a scholarship offer to play collegiate softball for Motlow State. The speedy Jack City outfielder is an accomplished slapper but has the ability to hit for power as well. She is expected to enter the starting lineup for the Bucks next fall as a freshman.

Williams has been an anchor in the outfield for Team Worth 94 while holding down the lead off spot in the order since the team came into the organization four years ago. Although she saw limited action this spring for Jack City while rehabbing a shoulder injury, she still managed to hit an impressive .545, and was not thrown out on a single stolen base attempt.

All lesson slots are currently full and we are only able to accept waiting list applications at this time. BUT...

We will be opening a number of Saturday slots the second week of November after the completion of fall season. Last year, the winter Saturday slots were completely booked by late September. Slots are assigned on a first come, first serve basis, so get your reservation in early.

You may call or email to reserve a Saturday slot or to be placed on the waiting list. We will notify you when an instruction slot becomes available.

It's cold and wet, and it's dark by 4:30 in the afternoon. Your winter pitching workout session is limited to your weekly pitching lesson. You don't need more lessons (or the cost) but you know you need more pitching time over the winter.

Jack City has set aside a pitching tunnel (15' x 65') for pitchers like you... at a price you can afford. Just book your time, bring a catcher, and throw all you need to throw - as many days a week as you need. Walk-ins are welcome, but we strongly recommend reservatons. Pitching cage time is allotted on a first come, first serve basis.

Need an indoor facility for off-season workouts for your team this winter? Jack City has a limited number of time slots available for both teams and individuals.

We will also run your practice sessions as a series of mini-clinics for you if you prefer. We will customize the workouts according to your specific needs. Facility rental fee plus $5 per per player.

The right handed ace was named All Big East while compiling a 20-7 record with a 2.20 ERA for the Big East power. Caralisa set the school freshman record for wins and strikeouts and was named to the Big East Pitcher of the Week Honor Roll twice this season in the midst of a run through 12 consecutive victories. She also tossed a one hit shutout in the NCAA Regionals, the first by a freshman in school history.

As a starting pitcher, Beth compiled a 10-3 record with a 2.66 ERA in 84.1 innings of work. When she wasn't in the circle, Lefler held down the starting job at first base where she batted .350 with 9 doubles, a triple, and 23 RBI, with an On Base Percentage of .402. Beth was also named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference All Academic Team

The lefthanded centerfielder led the Panthers to a 25-9 record and the Division Title while amassing a .416 batting average an On Base Percentage of .492, 9th and 7th in the conference respectively, with 8 doubles, 3 triples, 12 steals, and 25 RBI while being named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference First Team and SCAC All Academic Team

The speedy freshman outfielder has continually improved throughout the season. Kayla earned her first career start against the University of Kentucky during mid-April and locked down the right field position for the remainder of the season. She was named the Tech Freshman of the Year and Most Improved Player while compiling a team best .389 batting average.

Jack City has renewed its lease for another three years and will continue to occupy the 4100 square foot facility in Smyrna near Square D. The facility has served us well for the past three years and is a central location for the majority of our students. Although there will be an increase in facility leasing rates, we are committed to keep our prices as low as possible and refrain from raising the cost for individual lessons. We would like to thank all of you for supporting Jack City and continuing to allow us to experience success.
