WILDCAT SIGNINGS

Ryan Williams (LaVergne HS) signed Friday, May 23 with Cumberland University, an NAIA power in Lebanon, TN. Ryan, a two time 9AAA All District selection hit .421 this spring for the Wildcats. He became the seventh member of his summer team to sign for the 2008-09 school year.

Other Wildcats who have signed grants-in aid are: Tennyson Dodd (Oakland) - Lipscomb, Phillip Parsley (Oakland) - Belmont, Seth McConnell (Oakland) - Martin Methodist, Brett Wilson (Oakland) - Middle Tennessee, Kirkland Wheeler (Blackman) - Motlow State CC, and Taylor Barrett (Siegel) - Sewannee.

11 BULLDOGS IN STATE TOURNAMENT

Eleven Brentwood Bulldogs participated in the TSSAA State Tournament this week in Murfreesboro and Nashville. Six came home with the big trophy and four more finished as runners up.

Sam Dove, Drew Floyd and Ben LePere (all 2009) helped Brentwood Academy come from the losers bracket to win the Division II-AA championship Thursday. Bennett Smith, Turner Cripps and Chris White (all 2008) played every inning for Goodpasture as the Cougars went undefeated in winning the Division I-AA championship.

Kevin Davis (08), Ben Brewer (09) and Ryan Emery (09) had to play six games in four days as David Lipscomb reached the I-AA final, losing to Goodpasture Friday before a packed house. Taylor Hudson (08) led Davidson Academy to a runner-up finish in DII-A and Miles Canady (09) was a key member in Ravenwood's surprising run to the I-AAA tournament. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!

Amy Bulwalda Signs with Motlow

Amy Buwalda (Team Worth Gold, Mt Juliet High School) signed a Letter of Intent with Motlow State last Thursday. Lady Bucks Head Coach Gary Barfield was obviously pleased with his ability to recruit her out from under Division I schools who were pursuing the power-hitting first baseman.

Amy has lead the Mt Juliet Lady Bears to two consecutive AAA State Championship Finals and was named to the All District 9AAA Team and 9AAA Tournament Team while compiling a .474 batting average. In addition to playing with Team Worth Gold, Amy also receives hitting instruction from Team Worth '93 head coach Jimmy Waggoner.

Motlow State finished 44-12 in 2007 and were ranked 17th in the country. Coach Barfield indicated that he expects Amy to be an impact player from day one, starting at first while occupying a spot in the heart of the lineup during her freshman season. Congratulations to Amy Buwalda.
