The Firepower were crowned USSSA 10U State Champions Sunday night after knocking off the Chattanooga Thunder 2-1. Caralisa Connell picked up the win in the Championship Game while allowing only 3 hits in 6 innings of work, and Bailey Piercefield struck out the side in the 7th for the save.

Piercefield was named Tournament MVP while Connell was awarded Tournament Best Pitcher. Firepower teammates Jennifer "JR" Moore and Asia earned awards for Best Defensive Player, and Best Offensive Player.

The Firepower drew the toughest two opponents in the first 2 rounds of the double elimination bracket, and knocked off the North Georgia Rockets 3-2 and Chattanooga Thunder 3-1. Saturday evening, they topped the Diamond Dodgers 2-0.

In the winner's bracket finals, Piercefield fired a no hit shutout in a 6-0 win over the Georgia Cyclones to advance to the 7 inning, no time limit championship.

After jumping on the Chattanooga Thunder quickly with 5 runs in the opening inning, the Firepower bats cooled off. After making no fielding errors throughout the weekend, a flurry of errors put the Thunder back in the game in the 5th. With the score tied at 5-5, the Thunder took advantage of yet another miscue to take a 7-5 win.

The third rematch, however, went back to the Firepower as they returned to solid defensive form in the 2-1 victory for the State Title.

The Firepower will represent Tennessee in the USSSA World Series in Sulphur, Louisiana July 22-28.
