Goodlettsville Storm 11U rolled undefeated through the NSA "B" 12U State Fastpitch Tournament in Hendersonville last weekend to capture the State Championship. In a double elimination format, the Storm Club won four of five games by run rule, and outscored their opponents by a margin of 47-7 on the way to a 5-0 record.
Wins over the Diamond Dodgers (11-2), FC Sliders (10-1), and Copperheads (11-1) propelled the Storm into the Winners Bracket finals. Facing a strong Tennessee Xplosion team, the Storm continued to hit the ball well and play excellent defense, and secured a spot in the championship game with a 6-3 victory.
Meanwhile, the Copperheads were battling their way back through the elimination bracket to set up a semifinal matchup with the Xplosion. When the dust had cleared, the Copperheads came out on top in a tight 3-2 game.
The championship game remained close for several innings before the Storm bats erupted for a 9-1 win and the State Championship.
The Storm will continue post season play by participating in the USFA "B" World Series in Panama City on July 16. Congratulations Storm Club!
