Team Worth 10U rolled through the One Day Easter Bash double elimination tournament on Saturday in Franklin, scoring an impressive 34 runs in 4 games.
In opening round action Worth shut out the Lady Raiders 7-0. Later in the morning, they rolled to a 9-4 win over an improved Diamond Fire squad to advance to the winners bracket finals.
In what has developed into a friendly rivalry over the past two years, Team Worth was matched against the Kentucky Blitz of Bowling Green. The Worth bats continued to be hot as they knotched a 7-2 win.
In the championship game, Team Worth lit up the Diamond Dawgz early, scoring 5 runs in the top of the first inning. That wouldn't be enough as the Diamond Dawgz continued to fight back and take a lead. Instead of being forced into playing a second game, Team Worth exploded for 6 runs in the final inning to take the 11-9 win.
The team hit for a gaudy .477 average for the tournament and improved their season record to 12-1.
Congratulations to Team Worth for their 2nd tournament championship of the young season.
