|Jeff Bennett (Wilson Sox, Shoetiques) became the third former Mid-State alumnus to play in the Major Leagues, making his debut with the Milwaukee Brewers last week against the St. Louis Cardinals. Saturday, Jeff pitched two hitless innings of relief in a 6-1 win over the Astros.|
Jeff played as a 16 year old for the Wilson Sox in 1996. He was picked up by Greg Sirko to play with Shoetiques in the Babe Ruth post-season. Jeff made the all tourney team at the World Series as Shoetiques finished second that year. He went to another Babe Ruth World Series in 1997 with Mike Rippetoe's 17-18 Shoetiques team. He was drafted and signed by the Pirates in 1998.
Michael Coleman (Worth/NY Yankees) and Dewon Brazelton (Shoetiques/Tampa Bay) are the other former Mid-State players that have made Major League Rosters.
