|What's the hottest thing in Middle Tennessee? Mid-State Amateur Baseball, of course. While the boys of summer are gearing up for the 2002 season, the roster of teams has quietly grown in a phenomenal way. Going into the league scheduling meeting, the association had 94 registered baseball teams ready to take the field this summer, making the MSABA the largest select youth baseball association in the state of Tennessee.|
Over the past two summers, the MSABA experienced enough growth to mandate the creation two divisions (American and National) in each age group. In 2002, the league will introduce a 3rd (Federal) division in five age groups (18U, 16U, 15U, 14U, 13U), and currently have enough teams to do the same in the 12U and 11U divisions.
Incidently, the team count includes only baseball teams. With registration just opening for the fastpitch softball division, 27 teams have already committed to participating in Mid-State fastpitch play this summer.
It is thrilling to see competitive youth athletics prosper and grow, and we are excited about 2002. The season is just around the corner!
