Hooper Signs with Tennessee Tech

Kendall Hooper (DCA 2010) signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to receive a softball scholarship at Tennessee Tech University. The ceremony took place in the Donelson Christian Academy gymnasium in front of a cheering student body.

Kendall began her career with Team Worth in 1999 as a 7 year old. The 2009-2010 season will be her 11th with the Team Worth program, spending almost all of her time in the clean-up hole. Originally a second baseman, she moved to catcher following her 9 year old season where she has become a fixture as one of the top catchers in the Southeast. As a multi-sport star at DCA she is a perennial starter and All-District performer in softball, volleyball, and basketball. Kendall was moved up to the varsity softball team as an 8th grader where she has consistently been their best player while starting every game, logging time behind plate, at short, and in the circle. She is also the Student Body President with an impressive 3.9 GPA and 26 ACT score.

Tennessee Tech is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and earned a berth to the NCAA Regional Tournament in 2007 where they advanced to the championship game after knocking off California and Alabama. Tech was also recently awarded the top rank of the "Girls Got Game" Top Ten All-Academic Teams named by the NFCA for having the top team GPA in the country. Coach Tory Acheson is excited about what Kendall will be bringing to the program next fall as Tech pursues another trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Although other Worth players have signed college scholarships in previous years, Kendall's signing is special to the program. She and a teammate will be the first Team Worth players who have played their entire careers in the Worth program, beginning as 7 year old coach pitch players.

Congratulations Kendall! We are proud of you.
