| Nina Dever (2010 Greenbrier) signed a National Letter of Intent on Thursday to receive a softball scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University. The ceremony took place in the Greenbrier Library in front of a large group of teammates, family, friends, and coaches.
Dever, long a target of the Team Worth coaching staff, joined the program in 2008 where she quickly found a permanent home in the 3rd hole in the batting order. Although she has been a life-long short stop, Nina agreed to move into the outfield to fill a huge void, and immediately became the defensive anchor in the grass. In addition to supurb defensive skills, Nina sports an outstanding bat, a cannon-like arm, and good speed which are all complimented by her strong, aggressive playing style.
Nina is also a multi-sport standout, leading the Greenbrier volleyball team to back to back State Championships while being named to the All-State Tournament Team, and is a perennial All District basketball player. Nina will hit the 1000 point plateau early in the season this year. She recorded a .350 batting average, and .563 slugging percentage with 27 RBIs and 10 doubles last spring at Greenbrier High School and has led the team to two State Tournament Appearances.
Nina will join Shelby Barrett, another Team Worth alum, in the Blue Raider outfield for Head Coach Sue Nevar. MTSU has captured a gem, and Nina will be expected to contribute from the moment she steps on campus in the fall of 2010. Coach Nevar sees her as a potential four year starter with the Blue Raiders.
