| Haley Fagan (Cornersville 2011) made a verbal commitment last night to accept a softball scholarship at the University of Tennessee. The talented pitcher had narrowed her options to Tennessee and Mississippi State University before making her final decision.
Fagan is a multi-sport star at Cornersville High School where she is also a starter on the basketball team. She was instrumental in leading the Bulldogs to the State Championship Basketball Tournament in Murfreesboro last year. The Cornersville softball team also advanced to the State Tournament last year, finishing 3rd for the second year in a row, and are expected to make yet another visit to the Big Show this year largely because of Fagan's ability in the circle. After spending a couple of seasons with the Tennessee Force, Haley joined Team Worth in 2008 where she has been a key part of the pitching rotation and anchored the defense at first base and in the outfield.
The University of Tennessee at Knoxville plays in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) under the direction of co-Head Coaches Ralph and Karen Weekly. The Lady Vols have earned six consecutive trips to the NCAA Regionals, resulting in back to back to back trips to the Women's College World Series where they finished in the top three each time.
The 5'11" junior hurler shouldered much of the pitching load last summer while leading Team Worth to the ASA National Championships and will counted on this summer to fill the same role while preparing to make a huge splash in the SEC when she arrives in Knoxville.
