| The Freshman of Team Wormake their marks |
| |
| High school ball started this past weekend and most of the Worth 95 girls
were on the dirt. Both Savannah and Kayla started for Nashville Christian High
School and led their team to a 4-0 record at the Centennial Play day. Both
played very well all day against the older girls. Rayne started all 4 games and
pitched two games for Centennial High School including the 3-1 loss to Kayla
and Savannah. Centennial finished 3-1 on the day. Farther south, Alex and
Austyn faced off as Lawrence County High played Marshal County. It was a
good game between two good teams with Lawrence County coming out on
top. Both Alex and Austyn played 2nd base for their respective teams. It
has begun. Now let’s get it over with and get TW 95 back on the field. |

| Hooper Leads DCA to State Semis |
| |
| Kendall Hooper (Donelson Christian Academy, 2010) had yet another stellar baskeball season as she led DCA to the TSSAA Division II Class A State Semifinals. The Wildcats fell 58-56 to eventual State Champion Harding Academy to finish third.
Hooper, who signed a softball scholarship with OVC power Tennessee Tech last November, has been a varsity starter at guard for the past three years and saw significant floor time as a freshman before that. As the floor general and defensive specialist, she is the motor that drives the Wildcats.
During the first nine games of the season while Kendall was rehabbing from a fall volleyball injury, DCA posted a 4-5 record without her in the line. Upon her return, the Wildcats immediately went on a six game winning streak and won nine of ten and 16-5 on the season with her in the lineup. She capped off the year with a 16 point performance against University School of Jackson in the Sub-State to lead DCA to a 52-45 win and a trip to the Final Four.
Congratulations Kendall and DCA!

| Fagan Racks Up Basketball Awards |
| |
| Haley Fagan (Cornersville, 2011) received three top awards over the past two weeks for her outstanding play on the hardwood in the 2009-2010 high school basketball season. The talented junior earned a spot on the All District 11A Team for her regular season play, followed by being named to the District 11A All Tournament Team as Cornersville advanced to the Regionals. Although the Bulldogs fell short in their attempt to return to the State Tournament, Haley was named to the Region 6A All Tournament Team at the conclusion of the tournament.
Haley, who has already committed to the University of Tennessee, will now gear up for Cornersville's softball season where she will try to lead the team back to the State Tournament. The squad has earned two consecutive 3rd place finishes.
Congratulations Haley. |

| Vincent Verbals to UT Martin |
| |
| Casey Vincent (Coffee County, 2010) verbally committed last night to accept a softball scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Martin. The talented left hander received offers and interest from a number of Division I schools including Austin Peay, Belmont, South Alabama, and Missouri among others.
The Skyhawks seek to have yet another successful season this spring following their 2009 Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Championship which led to a NCAA Regional berth in the Louisville Region that included UT Martin, Louisville, Arizona, and Purdue. They were also recently picked second in the preseason OVC poll.
UT Martin will have a challenging schedule in 2010 including three conference champions and five teams which advanced to the NCAA Regionals last year. In addition to perennially strong conference foes Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech, the Skyhawks will face off against Mississippi, Georgetown, and Western Kentucky.
Casey will be playing for Head Coach Donley Canary who is entering his 9th season at the helm,. He has compiled 250 wins during that span, more than any previous Martin coach, and is currently 4th on the all time OVC list for wins. Canary has a relationship with Team Worth dating back more than a dozen years as he signed and coached a pair of Worth standouts (Doug Vincent and Scott Terry) while coaching baseball at Tennessee Tech.
Casey joined Team Worth last summer and immediately became a key contributor, not only from the circle but at the plate and on defense as well. She is one of the hardest working players in the program, and quickly drew attention from college coaches after donning the red and black. Her intensity, talent, and desire have made her successful whether she's tossing a two hit shutout against Team Nebraska at Nationals, driving 240 foot home runs to center against Frost Falcons Gold, or making the grade in the classroom. She will be the ace of the Coffee County staff for the next two years while leading Team Worth from the circle during the summer.
Congratulations Casey! |

| Roberts Verbals to Chattanooga |
| |
| Sarah Beth Roberts (Mt. Juliet, 2011) made a verbal commitment earlier this afternoon to accept a softball scholarship to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Sarah Beth was being recruited by a number of schools including Tennessee, UT Martin, Morehead State, Belmont, Lipscomb, and ETSU among others, but the offer from Chattanooga was too good to turn down.
Sarah Beth joined the Team Worth program as a nine year old in 2002 and has been with the squad throughout her travel career playing catcher and third base. She earned All District honors last spring at Mt Juliet prior to leading Team Worth to the 16U ASA National Championships. Her 9th year with the program promises to be her best of a long, outstanding career as a Team Worth star.
Chattanooga is a member of the Southern Conference and is led by Head Coach Frank Reed who is now in his 9th year. He led Chattanooga to the NCAA Tournament in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2009, finishing first in the conference regular season 6 times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009) amassing 316 wins during that time. Prior to coming to Chattanooga, he was the head coach at Chattanooga State Technical College for 10 years where his teams were ranked in the Top 10 JUCO polls during 8 of those years. He also served the Dominican Republic National team as hitting coach for four years and took over as the head coach in 2006.
The Mocs have a challenging schedule this spring, including: Oklahoma, MIchigan, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Georgetown, Massachusetts, Virginia Tech, and Tennessee Tech. Their four player 2010 signing class included two players from Oklahoma, one from Arizona, and a Tennesse girl from Rhea County. Their Olympic caliber stadium recently received a significant upgrade with the installation of AstroTurf behind the plate and down the foul lines complete with Chattanooga and Frost Stadium logos.
Congratulations Sarah Beth! |

| Abell Verbals to Lipscomb |
| |
| Jordan Abell (Riverdale, 2011) verbally committed to Lipscomb University on Saturday afternoon while watching the Bison softball team practice. Lipscomb made her an outstanding offer which ultimately trumped an equally outstanding offer from UT-Martin. She was also being recruited by the University of Tennesse.
Lipscomb is coached by Kristen Peck Ryman. Coach Ryman played shortstop and centerfield at Lipscomb University and took a position as a graduate assistant following a stellar career as a Bison. She took over the team in 2006 as the head coach and is entering her 5th year in that position. In 2008, LIpscomb ended the season in a four way tie for first place in the Atlantic Sun Conference, and was awarded the #1 seed in the conerence tournament. In 2009, they finished 2nd in the conference and advanced to the Semifinals before dropping a game to Mercer which left them one game away from the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Lipscomb's five player 2010 signing class featured players from Texas, Oklahoma, and Georgia along with a player from St. Benedict near Memphis and Haley Elliott (Nighthawks, Trinity Christian). Their 2010 schedule features Tennessee Tech, Middle Tennessee, Kentucky, Kansas, Georgetown, and Alabama-Birmingham, and will be playing in a tournament in Hawaii where they will face Hawaii, California, and Tokoyo Women's College. They are expecting a great season as they return virtually their entire starting lineup.
Jordan spent the summer at shortstop and second base for Team Worth while hitting in the two hole, but filled in at third and behind the plate when needed during the fall season. She started at third as a freshman at Blackman High School and at short as a sophomore. She transferred to defending State Champion Riverdale High School for her junior year where she is expected to contribute immediately in the middle infield while hitting in the middle of the order.
Congratulations Jordan! |
